Wikipedia has been a great tool for geeks to finally write down all the crap we used to have to remember.  And now we can share that knowledge with the world wide web.  Wikipedia allows anyone to not only edit articles, but to start their own speciality encyclopedias.  This list ranks the geekiest, most complete wikia dedicated to the topics geeks care most about.  It’s not simply which site has the most articles, but how deep into the subject did it take to find that many articles.  And how geeky those articles are.  That counts.

7. Transformers Wiki

Want to know how more than meets the eye the Transformers really were?  Check out the Transformers Wikia.  There are more than 5,500 articles to transform your thinking about giant robots, from the comics to the cartoons to the movies, in every generation of the series.

tardiswiki 6. Doctor Who Wiki

The fan community of the longest running sci-fi series have written more than 7,600 articles about the ten different Doctors and all his enemies and friends.  It’s like time travel without the motion sickness.

5. Halopedia

halo_wikiThere’s more writing on Halopedia than on all the Halo games combined - including instruction manuals.  With 4,000 articles, Halopedia covers everything from plot summaries to game walkthroughs to details about Halo toys, boys, comics, and roleplaying games.  You might have beaten all three games, but that couldn’t fill up 4,000 articles alone…seriously.

lost_wiki 4. Lost Wikia

Lost has a lot of details and mysteries and the Lost Wikia will make sure you are fully informed.  This wikia’s more than 3,000 articles covers all the characters, past and present, and analysis of the mythology, themes, and mysteries.  It’s like your own editable checklist of everything Lost.

2. DC and Marvel Databases

Okay, I’m cheating a little here, but really, how can you separate the two largest comic book universes.  Marvel and DC wikis are a completists dream with more than 35,000 articles between them covering all the characters, titles, imprints, and even news.  So if you want to know all about Earth 1 through 616, then start reading the Marvel and DC Databases.

memory_alpha 2. Memory Alpha

A fleet of apparently Starfleet cadets have transcribed the entire Enterprise computer onto the Memory Alpha wikia.  Well, maybe 27,000 articles isn’t the complete computer, but it’s probably just the information we know now.  Gotta protect the space time continuum and all that, right.

wookieepedia 1. Wookieepedia

Almost 55,000 articles almost seems small for the greatest space opera in the galaxy far, far away.  Every word every written about the Star Wars universe has been compiled in Wookiepeedia for this truly definitive Star Wars resource.  See how all the movies, comics, books, video games, and card games fit together in a neat, nerdy package.

Up-and-comer: StrategyWiki

A little sparse on content, StrategyWiki aims to be a complete repository of complete walkthroughs.  The 200 completed walkthroughs are excellent examples of what’s to come with full excellent organization and navigation, images, and quality instructions.  It’s GameFAQ 2.0.
