Battlestar Galactica, one of the best science fiction shows in like ever, returns April 4th with its final season and hopefully, some long sought after closure. Before the swan song, we have 20 episodes to answer all our anticipation filled questions. There is a big spoiler warning for this whole article. If you aren’t completely caught up on all the awesomeness that is Battlestar Galactica, do not waste time reading this post and go watch it now. So say we all.
7. Why do prophecies keep coming true?
The religious debate of Battlestar Galactica keeps leading the humans on long prophesied path to Earth, from President Roslin as the dying leader to the colorful Eye of Jupiter that Starbuck dreamed about for years. Too many things match up to be coincidences, meaning something is at the end of their journey. But what will that be?
6. Why do Baltar and Number Six see ghosts of the other?
We got used to Baltar’s imaginary friend version of Six and could even write it off as him simply going insane until we found out Number Six sees Baltar herself. Seems their relationship is more complex. Another twist, it long seemed these imaginary friends just help guide and advise their host minds, but Baltar’s fake Six once gave him some extra information, telling him about some guilt Colonel Tigh had. Suddenly, fantasy Six wasn’t talking in ambiguous allusions to God and faith, but providing some tangible insight. What else do these imaginary friends know?
5. Where is Earth and what will we find there?
Earth on the original Battlestar series was a joke, but the re-imagining has promised a more mature, and possibly far less cheery ending. The prophesied 13th colony founded Earth and did what with it? Are they still humans? Is Earth our Earth? And why are the Cylons as interested in Earth as the humans?
4. Where was Starbuck and what makes her so special?
The bitch is back and there’s probably a reason. It’d be predictable to make her the Final Cylon, but its possible. We know the Cylons have taken a special interest in Starbuck. She saw the Eye of Jupiter in visions before ever seeing it and has been the only person able to fly a Cylon raider. Oh, and she came back from the dead. Yeah, there’s something special going on with her. And now she’s knows where Earth is, but is she telling the truth? Find out on the next, Battlestar Galactica.
3. How did the final four Cylons come to be?
The big cliffhanger of season three was the reveal of four new Cylons - four people we really didn’t expect including Chief Tyrol and Colonel Tigh, both of who have children and long histories in the military. Tigh even fought in the first Cylon War before any human models exists, or so we thought. These new models have some special secrets and we’d better find out those answers. And why they love “All Along on the Watchtower” better be one of those answers.
2. Who is the final Cylon?
I think every single cast member has been guessed from Starbuck to President Roslin to Admiral Adama to the deckhand in episode 5. After finding out four Cylons last season, we have one more unknown Cylon left and if these four are something special, the remaining one is going to be extra special. Maybe the God of the Cylons? Or maybe one of the humans’ Gods? Or maybe it’s something completely different. And just to add a little twist, what if there’s a 13th Cylon model? 12 colonies, plus Earth. 12 Cylon models, plus one. Just guessing.
1. What is the Cylon’s plan?
Since the beginning, the credits of Battlestar kept telling us the Cylons have a plan. We’re not sure what the plan entails, who it’s for, or really anything about it other than the educated guess that it’s in some way affecting how the Cylons chasing after the remaining humans. But in-fighting between the humanoid Cylon leaders leads to questions of how thought out the plan is or whether they are still following their original plan. Either way, we want details about what plan the Cylons had, why they attacked the Colonies, and what do they want with Earth. Everything else is second fiddle to their right from the beginning question.
