Giant gorillas don’t have a hard time impressing the ladies. King Kong took on the King of the Dinosaurs in an epic throw down of stop-motion magic. Corny by today’s standards, the fighting figurines were impressive technological feats of the day, and a rousing battle between six inch giants. If toys aren’t your taste, try the computerize remake where Peter Jackson throws Kong into a good 20 minutes of T-Rex fighting, complete with broken jaws and puppetry.

The machine-like movements of the action figure monkey has won the hearts and minds of geeks for decades. This far too often remade classic creating on of the most touching and tear-jerking scenes in movie history. King Kong runs free in New York City with his love, Ann Darrow in hand, and begins climbing the Empire State Building, only to find he has no where else to climb. Planes swarm the giant but eventually weaken Kong who falls to his death. Laying on the street, the corny special effect actually breaks our hearts with sadness knowing it wasn’t the airplanes; it was beauty killed the beast.
